In High School I was in a band called, "The Myrchants of Tyme". We recorded two songs at Criteria Studios in Miami in 1969, a few months after we broke up. Dave Stevens was a good drummer, but was our lead guitar and sometimes lead singer. He continued in various bands in the Miami/Ft.Lauderdale area for the next 45 years, and also was a music teacher (Dade County Schools?), private teacher, and guitar builder. He wrote and produced his own album, "Natural Magic", and can be seen near the end of the movie "King Frat". On Youtube search David Stevens track 10. He died of complications of diabetes. Gary Bryan was our lead singer and rhythm guitar player. He eventually ended up in Phoenix as a successful businessman, and continued to write, perform, and record music. Several of his songs are available on Youtube, search Gary Bryan Hands on You. Don Smith, our bass player, also sang bass, and could play all wind instraments. He was also a performing musician for the next 45 years, in California and Texas. He has also died. I was the drummer and sang the high harmonies. I got a job as a phone man "until I could find a real job", and retired from it 40 years later.
After not seeing each other for about 40 years, Gary found Dave and I on the internet. However, none of us could find Don. A search for Don Smith gives you 6 million hits! Dave wrote the reunion song and we agreed to meet in Phoenix. Gary arranged for time at a recording studio. Our wives, who had not been doing any of the searching, found Don within a few hours! He flew in from Vegas in time for the recording session the next morning. So, after not seeing each other for 40 years, with no written music and a rented drum set, we recorded "We Were Myrchants of Tyme".
